Where to take pictures in SLC?
Every time I want to take pictures its hard to come up with ideas on where to go? Where is somewhere cool, but not too busy? Great lighting but free parking? It is hard to find great spots so I decided to write a quick post of some great free spots to take photos!
The first place is Trolley Square located on 602 700 East. We parked in the free parking structure and took pictures in front of the amazing "Flight" mural out front. We walked to the top of the Trolley Square Tower and took some nice landscapes. We then proceeded to take pictures in the parking structure with the neat barred windows. We went around 9 am, so the lighting was great and it was not busy at all.
The second place would be City Creek and downtown. We parked in the City Creek parking structure (free parking for the first 2 hours). We walked around taking pictures on the sky bridge and then walked over to Temple Square and rode the nauseating elevator at the Joseph Smith Building to the 10th floor. We took some cool silhouettes and a cool angle of the city. We walked down main street to Eborn Books which is located on 254 South Main Street. It was so crowded with rooms and rooms of books. The colors were amazing. We went on a Monday morning so it was not busy at all.
The third place is Cathedral of the Madeline. If you go up the big hill behind the cathedral there is a parking lot so you do not have to park on the crazy steep hill. We did not stay long at this location because it had started to snow and we were freezing! The Cathedral is located on 331 East South Temple. I did not save any of the Cathedral pictures but trust me its a cool place to check out!
The fourth place is the City Library, 210 East 400 South. The parking here is only free for the first 30 minutes so we did not stay too long. We rode the glass elevators to the sky deck and joined two other photographers who were getting pictures of the city and the neat architecture.
We were taking photos in between our photo classes so we only went to these few locations. I will continue to add posts about where to take neat pictures. If you have any great ideas for locations please comment I would love to explore them!
